Company Description

Come and join this dedicated team as a Financial Controller for Anglo American Platinum. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the business is able to execute its strategy through the provision of sound financial accounting, reporting, performance management and governance.

 

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Develop implementation framework for the Finance strategic and business plansProvide oversight for the development of policies and procedures to enable implementation of business and strategic objectivesEnsure that the strategic and business plans balance long term solutions to short term revenue generation and service deliveryFormulate contingency plans to ensure that the strategic plan targets are achieved even in adverse conditions, even interventions in other areas of the business where necessaryAct as thought leader to drive the establishment of an effective and efficient management process and its continuous improvementResponsible for statutory financial reporting for the Anglo Platinum GroupManaging all financial and operational performance management, reporting and analyses requirements both internally and externallyLead Finance performance in AAP; set and measure operational targets and determine areas of cost reduction, program improvement, or policy changeResponsible for the consolidation of the 5-year Business plan and reporting thereonResponsible for governance, risk and complianceImplement a sound business governance and compliance with JSE listing requirementsFacilitate the organisation to improve internal controls and governance of risk considering all relative legislation, policies, rules and standardsManaging the integration of systems required for statutory and performance reporting and analysisAct as thought leader to drive the establishment of an effective and efficient management process and its continuous improvementActively drive transition and act as role modelManage and develop staff as appropriateSupport the definition of recruiting needs and hiring for the departmentProvide leadership and team support, including performance managementEnsure cohesion and common purpose by strong leadership, inspiration and communicationInspire the whole team to be accountable and deliver on commitmentsBuild relationships with key stakeholders (PMC, The Board, General Managers, Commercial Managers, AA stakeholders etc)Manage function within the agreed budget and headcount constraintsEnsure that all staff, contractors and suppliers under direction are in compliance with Anglo American's Health, Safety and Environment management systems, manuals and processesPersonally comply with company quality assurance, health, safety, risk and environment management systems

QualificationsFour-year financial management or business science degree is a requirement (B. Compt, B.Com Hons, B.Sc)CA(SA)

Experience:

At least ten years' experience in finance environmentAt least five years' experience at middle management level in mining industry

Knowledge and Skills:

Extensive knowledge of financial and management accountingExtensive knowledge of mining operationsComputer literacy relevant to role
