Job Description

Scope: The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

Lead the Finance Team to ensure timely and accurate financial statements:

Provide leadership to the Finance Team by establishing goals and objectives that support company goals and objectivesAbility to indirectly manage up to 40 team members across the United StatesPreparation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for the accurate accounting of business results in accordance with GAAP and government regulatory agenciesConduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial dataOversee accounts payable function and ensure timely payment of invoicesEnsure that the processing of financial information and resultant reporting adheres to both regulatory requirements as well as current company practice and/or procedure.Provide audit interpretation and support services to independent financial auditorsKeep abreast of the required regulatory reporting and technical accounting issues and requirementsMaintain tracking of intercompany billings and accruals for internal charges according to corporate accounting standardsContinuous assessment of current accounting processes, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes as deemed necessaryHiring, training and retaining competent accounting staffProvide necessary motivation and professional growth opportunities for department employees.Adheres to internal ethics/procedures and external regulations and laws.Provide business units with necessary reports/inputs/data/ for monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting.Active participant in the annual AOP planning and analysis process.Other related duties as assigned by management.

Authorities:

Work under the general supervision of the Senior Director of FinanceAssign and allocate resources within the department required to support the businessSet functional performance standards and establish metricsApprove manual changes of reported information involving significant financial impactApprove instances of necessary deviations from standard departmental policies or proceduresServe as the subject matter expert for program financial, budget, and cost performance for programs

External auditors, internal auditors, and compliance auditorESL Financial managers and staff

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

            Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):

 Master's Degree Preferred            Bachelor's Degree Required                          

      Specific Degree Field, only if required: Bachelor in Accounting.

Certifications/Licenses:

      Required:        CPA

Experience Required:                                                                        

      Functional (Using Skill Set) - 5-10 years       

      Management - 3-5 years                                          

      Industry - 3-5 years                                              

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):

Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and FAR Regulations3+ years of Public Accounting experienceIn-depth knowledge of Accounting Regulations applicable to functional area, including keeping current regarding all SOX requirementsAbility to design financial processes and metrics within appropriate functional areasOverall mind set of continuous improvementAbility to manage and develop a professional staffExperience in presenting financial information to senior managementSkilled in using financial data systems and specific software applications as requiredExcellent verbal and written presentation skills
