Job Overview:
The financial coordinator is responsible for oversight and support of the charge processes for the outpatient department including physician services. The position is also responsible for evaluating process related issues which impact the timely charging of services within the departments support, and working with department staff, IT, Charge integrity et. al. to resolve. The position is responsible for ongoing review and analysis of reports such as the DFNB, and EPIC work queues, department specific trend reports and resolution of accounts that are not billing in a timely manner. The financial coordinator obtains authorizations for all tests, treatments and medications ordered by or given by the departments. Responsible for counseling patients with any insurance concerns or questions related to insurance coverage.

Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent2 years experience with revenue cycle, billing and prior authorizations, preferably in an oncology settingPreferred:
Experience with third Party Payor billing preferred. Coding experience and certification preferredEPIC experience preferredScheduling Requirements:

Maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of regulatory environment related to Medicare/Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance reimbursementResponsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all relevant agencies.Obtains all insurance prior authorizations for patients with outpatient treatments and procedures, radiological and surgical procedures within 72 hours of scheduled procedure Collaborates with nursing, pharmacy and representative from drug replacement program as well as patients with Charity CareProviding timely and accurate insurance and patient demographic information to facilitate timeliness of scheduling patients for treatmentsMonitors EPIC work queues and daily denial reports. Addresses all edits within 24 hours. Troubleshoots and resolves all edits timely and effectively and makes corrections as neededReports any discrepancies and trends to department manager in a timely mannerthe process of patients referred from private physician offices for infusion services in the FBCCC Infusion SuiteEnsures proper documentation and all prior authorizations for treatments have been obtained Maintains communication with nursing, pharmacy and scheduling of patient s appointmentsMaintains communication and collaboration with hospital and physician billing departments monitoring audits of denials and payments of claimsDemonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume and staffing.
