Financial Counselor
Job Description​

Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee's Summit is seeking a Financial Counselor to join our team. You will conduct professional patient interviews, upfront collections from patients, as well as provide additional education on insurance benefits. This position is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence. 

 

Shift Details: Monday- Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Serve as back up to the Patient Access Representative team and will conduct professional patient interviews obtaining demographic, financial, and biographical information. 

Responsible for understanding insurance terminology, obtaining information to appropriately bill payors, verify patient insurance eligibility, confirm benefits eligibility, and gather statistical information in compliance with federal and state regulations.  

Complete payment transactions by using proper negotiating techniques to professionally collect money owed by our Patients and Guarantors, including making referrals to appropriate financial resources such as payment plans and lines of credit. 

 

We are looking for someone that is excited about working with people and has a positive attitude. The ideal candidate has strong computer and critical thinking skills and can multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Minimum 1 year of insurance, billing and collections experience preferred, including EOB and coding knowledge.
