customersPosition SummaryIn a multi entity hospital and professional office environment the Financial Counseling Specialist is responsible for analysis investigation and resolution of patient balances This role includes ensuring self pay receivables uninsured and patient balance after insurance and free bed funds are processed and resolved according to department policies and regulatory guidelinesPosition ResponsibilitiesProcesses requests for Financial Assistance according to policies and procedures Approves requests within defined thresholdsProcesses self pay refunds payments payment plans and transfersPerforms pre bad debt screening reviews accounts for Medicaid Eligibility andor bad debt vs charity careUpdates insurance information on patient accounts that is obtained
