Canadian Banking Finance (CBF) is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Canadian Banking Executive Management, as well as to the Business Line management in Retail, Automotive Lending, Small Business and Commercial Banking. The MIS team is responsible for development and support of applications and tools primarily for Canadian Banking in the areas of business analysis, reporting and performance measurement. The team also plays a key role in areas such as Customer Profitability and Regional P&L and Monthly Branch Report (MBR). This is a very dynamic environment and the unit is very team and results oriented. The incumbent must be a capable change agent, ensuring smooth and relevant changes and insightful analysis within Canadian Banking Finance, the business lines and support groups.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Routine data management and process governance. Creation and maintenance of performance reports and various other core departmental applications. Support the development of applications to support Canadian Banking’s’s business growth and strategic projects. Assisting other team members with analytical tasks. In addition, the incumbent must possess excellent communication skills and will be interacting with various business lines. It is essential that the incumbent is a proactive and a fast learner. Responsible for running mainframe and PC SAS jobs in the first two to three weeks of each month. Will require some overtime. Responsible for designated business processes, system tools, and analyses to ensure that the Canadian Banking Finance meets its current and ongoing business requirements. Plan, organize and execute the Canadian Banking Finance MIS projects in accordance with departmental priorities. The incumbent is required to review and refine user requirements and develop effective solutions from existing financial and product systems. The role requires the effective use of programming resources, post-completion reviews, and the identification of problems/issues/opportunities where automation can improve on the provision of data for analytical support, planning, forecasting, expense, and performance measurement. Contribute to successful team performance in accordance with the Department’s mandate. Provide support to other team members and contribute to shared accountability for team objectives. Participate in cross-functional projects. Assist in other projects as assigned, related to core Canadian Banking Finance responsibilities.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
Ability to work effectively and diplomatically in a team environment with peers and superiors across organizational lines; also requiring excellent written and strong verbal communication skills. A solid understanding of the Bank’s Retail/Small Business/Commercial products and the processes associated with the analysis of related business growth and revenue streams. A good understanding of the elements of effective control over accuracy and completeness of MIS data and user acceptance testing. Highly organized with demonstrated experience in solving problems and making decisions. This involves the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure; ability to juggle multiple priorities. Relational data management skills and experience with the tools and concepts (1-5 year’s experience): Data lifecycle management (ETL): MSSQL SMS / SSIS, Shell Scripting, SFTP Data Modeling and reporting: Power BI, MS Access / Excel, OBIEE, SharePoint Desired technical skills (1-5 Years experience): Relational database languages: SQL Mainframe and PC SAS. Experience with Mainframe TSO and JCL. MS Programming languages (VB.NET / VBS / C#, Visual Studio, ASP.NET) Python or any other open-source programming languages is a bonus. Willing and able to learn about new technologies
