Financial Empowerment Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Financial Education Coordinator will administer the Financial Empowerment program at GLCAC including the development of financial educational workshops, individual financial counseling, and financial coaching. The Financial Empowerment Coordinator will establish financial education programs within GLCAC’s existing programs by being the advocate for such programs. The Financial Empowerment Coordinator will manage the delivery of the VITA program to clients and individuals in the communities we serve.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL EDUCATION

Train program staff on financial topics and supervise all volunteer financial counselors/coaches, workshop presenters, and program interns.Work closely with the program director to lead one-one financial coaching and financial education sessions.Promote the program services, workshops, seminars, activities, or events through flyer distribution, setting up displays, or any other outreach effort.Compile up-to-date financial information for use by financial counselors and clients.Coordinate the logistics and topics for the financial education program.Coordinate and facilitate financial coaching and provide oversight to other coaches and counselors.Interview clients to determine their current income, expenses, insurance coverage, tax status, financial objectives, risk tolerance, or other information needed to develop a financial plan.Implement individual and family financial counseling services including recommendations, or refer clients to someone who can assist them with plan implementation.Analyze financial information obtained from clients to determine strategies for meeting clients' financial objectives. Manage client portfolios in Engage, keeping client plans up-to-date.Provide monthly statistics to the Director for oversight of the Program.Maintain documentation of client contacts and monitor the evaluation of the program.Attend required training and participate in meetings or working groups related to financial education as necessary to ensure high-quality programming.Communicate with funding sources representatives and provide reports as required promptly.Identify new opportunities to develop the Program and reach clients in need of services.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

VITA

Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.Collaborate with other VITA partners to train and provide volunteers for the VITA program.Recruit and supervise VITA volunteers.Attend pieces training as necessary for program implementation and management.Conduct telephone interviews with clients to determine program eligibility and set up appointments.Supervise and train other agency volunteers or staff who are assisting with tasks related to VITA.Ensure that all required statistical information is gathered and compile statistical reports.

Direct and implement marketing, outreach efforts, and recruitment of clients and volunteers.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.Experience in teaching financial literacy or managing financial education programs.Certification in financial counseling.Proven ability to work independently to assist clients in completing their annual taxes.Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings.  Proven experience training, supervising, and managing volunteers.Experience in providing direct service to adult learners and clients.Experience in program design preferred.Strong computer skills a must (Microsoft Office, especially Excel)Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of initiative and professionalism; demonstrated sound judgment, and quality in written and oral communication skills.Attention to detail and accuracy.Thrives in a fast-paced work environmentAbility to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up GLCAC’s clientele, to support the agency’s mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike.

Supervisory Responsibility:  Oversight of VITA volunteers and financial coaches/counselors

Travel:  May be required
