Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)-School Nutrition is recruiting for an experienced Financial Examiner 2. Under general to limited supervision, this position will perform professional, financial-related, performance-related audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Develop and maintain an effective system to track the monitoring function for various federal school nutrition programs Review monitoring plans for federal school nutrition programs for compliance with current federal laws and regulations Maintain system access control to allow only authorized user access to monitoring reports Perform training and provides technical assistance for federal school nutrition programs, providing information updates and status reports to the School Nutrition Director Review operational/program manuals for compliance with federal laws and regulations Assist School Nutrition Director, and/or School Nutrition Program Managers with federal and state audit requirements Conduct financial and record-keeping training and communicating any updates of fiscal management policies Perform internal audits on federal programs as directed by the School Nutrition Director or School Nutrition Program Manager

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: 

Bachelor's degree in accounting  Experience in governmental accounting and/or auditing  Experience in School Nutrition   Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)  Strong people skills and exemplary attendance  Experience with PeopleSoft Financials 

              ****This is a remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Some statewide travel may be required.

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Financial Examiner 1 (RCP110) or position equivalent; or four (4) years of professional job-related experience. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
