Your Role
To produce a high performing, market leading claims team. Handle claims effectively and efficiently in accordance with Claims Best practices. Working closely with Claims management and relevant Underwriters to service Insureds and brokers. Handle technical referrals from the team, based on product line.
Your Responsibilities:
Analyse first report of claim, suit or underlying material to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of injury/damage and allocate claims accordingly. Technical Supervision of claims based on agreed product line. Administrative supervision and responsibility for your team. Ensure team practice sound litigation controls over Defence and Monitoring counsel. Ensure team promptly and properly document all developments on the claim file. Handle claims yourself, in line with Best Practices. Effectively communicate with following: Claim Department, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insured’s, counsel, third parties and/or legal representatives. Identify Trends and loss reporting and provide same to both claims management and underwriting. Provide regular updates on MI (using Power BI tool) and KPI for team performances on areas such as newarise/outstanding/ALAE/reserving timeframes. Lead training for brokers, either in conjunction with Underwriting or as a claims team. Effectively control the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors and keep good control and management of ALAE. Exercise excellent judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided and applicable limits. Maintaining of spreadsheets/recording of Denials/MC/CC appointments and Systemic issues (and others directed by the Regional or local Claims manager) Lead and participate in branch marketing efforts. Be closely involved in talent management and succession planning for the team. Conduct performance reviews/goal setting for your team.Strong Leadership skills. Strong focus on team culture, being collaborative and supportive. Evidence of sound claims decisions, supervision and handling techniques.Experience in the supervision of staff.Experience in Broker training and forums.Strong proven relationships with Brokers.Strong proven relationships with underwriting teams in Chubb.Experience in the demands and understanding the needs of brokers in the market.Experience in committee presentation skills.Written and verbal communication skills relative to claims handling.Understanding of the Insurance Contracts Act.Strong negotiations skills.Prior experience in identifying Industry Claims trends.Strong skills in Litigation Management and experience in evaluating/assessing and managing panels.Experience in performing audits.
