Responsibilities Duties at the GS-9 include: Participate in planning and performance of financial management studies; Participate in the review and evaluation of financial systems or effectiveness of internal controls and integrity of the organization's financial information; Analyze processing flows, reviewing data in reports and financial statements, and identifying abnormal trends and control weaknesses; Review and reconcile internal reports produced by the financial management system in order to determine compatibility of prior month status, and processes adjustments to correct or update reports; Prepare reports and statements that contain timely, accurate, and essential financial management information. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience performing at least two of the following the following: (1) Examining financial documents for proper accounting classification and authorization; (2) Entering and/or processing data into accounts and the general ledger; (3) Preparing monthly trial balances and financial reports; (4) Verifying the costs of line items in a budget. OR B. Successful completion of at least one (1) full year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education from an accredited college or university which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education. OR C. Successful completion of a at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which provided me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position, and I meet one of the following requirements for Superior Academic Achievement at the undergraduate level: 1) Class standing -- Graduated in the upper third of the class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision; 2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.)-2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 scale as recorded on official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. NOTE: A copy of your transcript is required as documented proof of your GPA, class standing, or election to honor society membership. Failure to provide your transcript will result in an ineligible rating. OR D. Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. GS-09: A. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or equivalent experience performing at least three of the following: (1) Creating recommendations for business process improvements; (2) Compiling and/or summarizing financial and budgetary information for reoccurring reports; (3) Reviewing and/or reconciling internal reports produced by financial management systems in order to process adjustments to correct or update reports; (4) Preparing reports and statements that contain accurate and essential financial management information. OR B. Successful completion of at least a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university or LL.B. or J.D., if related which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education. OR C. Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The superior academic achievement provision is to be used to determine eligibility for applicable GS-07 level positions of persons who have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a qualifying grade point average (GPA), class standing, or honors society. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 01/02/2025.
