As an associate on our financial operations team, you will be directly involved with the production and maintenance of daily, monthly, and annual reports used by the Managing Directors in various decision making processes for the firm. In this capacity, you will have the opportunity to truly get to know our business and understand that data behind these decisions, all the while interacting with key members of our trading, operations, accounting, and management teams. In doing so, you will work to obtain the information needed to create, or update, the reports and reconcile the information you receive to that which is utilized by our accounting team. We will further look to you to analyze variances that may occur to ensure that the correct information is going into our systems and into these reports at all times, giving you a unique opportunity to evaluate and improve processes and/or reporting procedures and make a significant contribution to the team’s success.
In this role, you will:
Ensure desk associates complete their daily P&L reporting duties in a timely and accurate manner; obtain information necessary to compile firm-wide P&L on a daily, monthly, and annual basisGather, and analyze information to meet the team’s data analysis and reporting needsPrepare net capital reports for multiple broker dealers and other operating entitiesReconcile P&L and Net Capital to the general ledger on a daily basis; analyze variances that occur and adjust accordingly; assist accounting with annual auditsSupport managers for all financial and operational issuesResolves trade discrepancies and settlement issues with clearing agentReview margin and capital requirements for designated businessesCreate ad-hoc reports upon request; successfully handle trouble-shooting and problem-solving issues surrounding existing or newly created reportsReview and improve processes or procedures on a continuous basisWhat we're looking for
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline requiredAbility to quickly learn new technology and apply to solving problems and creating new reportsStrong experienced utilizing the advanced features of MS Excel and MS Access preferredAbility to quickly learn new systems and toolsAbility to launch new projects and follow through to completionDiligence and meticulous with attention to detail requiredG/L experience, especially experience with Great Plains, preferredExhibition of a high energy level and capability of making certain decisions independent of management influencePossession of time management skillsExcellent communication skills, both oral and written, requiredAbility to be flexible in dealing with othersCapability of prioritizing and effectively managing multiple tasks while remaining focused on job objectivesAbility to create and drive innovative processes and approaches to problems in an ever growing and complex business environment; instinctively seek ways to improve efficiency
