Financial Reporting Analyst
Job Title: Financial Reporting Analyst Job Description The Associate, Financial Reporting plays a pivotal role in executing the bank’s accounting strategy. This position involves preparing and reviewing Management and Statutory reports in compliance with Canadian a (IFRS). The role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial information provided to local and corporate management, regulators, and external auditors. The Associate fosters a collaborative environment to maintain high standards of financial reporting and regulatory compliance. This position demands a strong understanding of financial controls, regulatory requirements, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under significant time pressure. Responsibilities + Prepare and review Management financial reports according to Japanese GAAP or Canadian GAAP. + Maintain Canadian and Japanese general ledgers. + Ensure all reports are accurate and timely. + Maintain accurate records for Canadian and Japanese financial reporting to meet local and parent bank requirements. + Coordinate with auditors for the audit of the bank’s financial statements and tax returns. + Prepare working papers for Notes to the annual financial statement for external audit purposes. + Prepare various taxation working papers and returns. + Maintain general ledger account keys for all products. + Prepare product reconciliation files, including derivatives. + Reconcile various sub-ledgers to the general ledger daily. + Maintain excel working paper files for various reports. + Maintain proper working paper and electronic files to support data analysis and reports. + Produce regulatory reports as assigned; maintain accurate records to meet regulatory requirements. + Act as a preparer for the OSFI Regulatory Reporting System (RRS) for regulatory return submissions. + Prepare reports and presentations for delivery to OSFI, Advisory, and other stakeholders. + Stay current on Canadian Banking rules and regulations for Foreign Bank Branches to ensure accurate regulatory reporting. + Develop, maintain, and review all risk KRIs and measurement methodologies. + Ensure all transactions are appropriately processed and accounted for. + Maintain an advanced understanding of audit and accounting controls to avoid compliance issues. + Utilize information technology to efficiently process and control transactions. + Ensure proper functioning of Oracle applications (General Ledgers, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets). + Develop and maintain proper financial/product controls. + Create and maintain control structures for financial preparation in accordance with filing requirements. Periodically test controls and ensure attestation on internal controls. + Assist in updating and maintaining Policy and Procedure Manuals. + Maintain & update the Desktop Manuals Policy and Procedure Manual for the Accounting function. + Facilitate relationships across the organization to ensure controls are in place for timely reporting and support control assertions. + Participate in new product development to support adequate processes and controls. + Develop meaningful control reporting through relationships with management and peers in other regions. + Work cooperatively with internal and external auditors, regulatory examiners, and other parties in the audit/examination processes. + Facilitate relationships within the industry and trade organizations to understand emerging trends and expand the network of advice. + Liaise with New York Controllers Department and Head Office Financial Accounting Department to resolve any open issues. + Collaborate on financial reporting changes with Superiors & Management. + Collaborate on Department’s operational effectiveness with Supervisors and Management. + Recommend improvements to the department's operational effectiveness, including financial reporting changes, taxation matters, accounting policies, and internal controls. Essential Skills + University graduate and CPA designation or equivalent. + Minimum of 5 years work experience, including previous related experience in a financial institution. + Knowledge and understanding of foreign bank operations. + Strong reasoning ability to understand complex situations, people, and systems needs against an ever-changing regulatory control environment. + Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and guidelines governing banking in Canada and Schedule III Banks. + Knowledge of Canadian GAAP/IFRS and Japanese GAAP. + Superior knowledge of computerized accounting systems and computer software applications, including Visual Basic Programming. + Knowledge of Oracle general ledger application preferred. + Knowledge of credit and lending practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Advanced proficiency in Excel. + Experience with financial reporting and accounting policies. + Familiarity with financial modeling. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Toronto,ON.
