The role you’ll contribute:

The Transplant Financial Services Manager under the supervision of the Director or Executive Director, is responsible for leading and directing the daily workflow of the Financial Coordinator team and the Transplant Billing Team for the Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy Program. This position serves as a liaison between the hospital, patients, and third-party payers for all financial matters. The position assists the Director in assigning the workload, ensuring proper coverage, monitoring productivity, and troubleshooting problems. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectable to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

This role will lead the transplant financial coordinator team and the transplant billing team and be responsible for all day to day workflows.

Facilitates day-to-day workflow and operations, including recommending procedures for obtaining authorization, forms and letters required for pre-transplant, transplant, and post-transplant phases. Provides customer service recovery when patient complaints/concerns are reported, serves as liaison between Managed Care and other AdventHealth departments.

Leading the team and monitoring all hospital and professional charges ensuring the appropriate, payer, guarantor and alternate payers are correct ensuring proper and timely claims filing.

Performs crisis intervention when financial issues arise pre- and post- implant/transplant. Participates in patient advocacy, resource brokering, and information and referral services. Serves as general advocate for patients and their families throughout the pre-and post-transplant process.

Leads the team and participates in authorized alternatives for the program such as Letters of Agreement, Pre-Provision of Services and Foundation Philanthropy; works with Managed Care, Legal Services and The Foundation to ensure proper protocols are followed, if a denial is received. Prepares quotes for international patients and works with all FH parties to ensure that accounts are billed timely and that payments are dispersed appropriately.

Pro-actively initiates quality improvement ideas/suggestions in an effort to improve the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction), improve the health of the populations served, and reduce the cost of clinic care.

Responsible for the on-boarding, training, and professional development of the Financial Coordinator position and coordinates learning opportunities for all members of the team.

Establishes and maintains a working relationship with key contacts at insurance companies (i.e. case managers, medical directors) and other departments within AdventHealth (i.e. Patient Financial Services, Reimbursement, and Accounting).

Maintains current knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules or any legislation affecting the transplant patients. Continually networks with other Transplant Financial Coordinators, organizations, and centers to expand knowledge and understanding of the transplant process.

Prepares analytical reports that communicate fiscal and volume program details to Leadership.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of Transplantation

Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel and Access)

Effective oral and written communication skills

Self-directed with ability to be part of a team

Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of clinical concepts

Ability to speak confidently with physicians and leadership

Ability to make decisions quickly

Knowledge of insurance practices regarding benefits, authorizations and appeals

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

Knowledge of Transplantation for stem cell transplant and/or cellular therapy

Ability to excel in deadline-driven, high-volume environments

Knowledge and use of AdventHealth mainframe and other AdventHealth resources

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year healthcare experience or AHS Residency program OR

• Associate’s degree and two (2) years healthcare experience OR

• High School degree and four (4) years healthcare experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Masters degree in Business Admin, Finance, Healthcare or related field

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

Certified Transplant Financial Coordinator or become certified within 90 days of hiring.
