The Idaho Department o f Juvenile Corrections, Headquarters office in Downtown Boise is now hiring for a full-time Financial Specialist, Principal to work in the Fiscal department. The Financial Specialist, Principal is responsible for supervising or overseeing the activities of a major financial systems requiring the application of accounting/ auditing theory, principles, and practices; perform related work. Responsibilities: + Provide agency wide customer service support and oversight to agency wide day to day financial operations which may include, but are not limited to PCard, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and all day to day aspects of revenue and expense cycle management. + Develop financial spend plans, cash position reports, and other related reports for management and decision makers. + Ensure all day to day accounting practices meet financial program requirements integrating national accounting, auditing, or budgeting standards, federal and state guidelines and procedures, and adherence to agency policies. + Prepare and communicate professional financial documents and management level financial reporting. + Utilize financial systems and reporting tools to prepare a reports, evaluate accounting practices and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate reporting of financial transactions. Identify and communicate risk areas and make recommendations to leadership on potential courses of action, and with the support of executive leadership, implement necessary changes. + Provide financial management information and assistance to executive staff, perform complex internal or external financial, compliance, operational, and performance audits, and/or develop and manage a department financial operation monitor related services for improvement opportunities. + Utilize information technology tools and methods to provide technical guidance and assistance to management, staff, or external customers in using and evaluating financial data to ensure the accurate reporting of financial information both internal and external to the agency. Minimum Qualifications: Good knowledge of: + Accounting principles and practices + Supervisory practices. Experience: + Using personal computers to develop, analyze, and report on financial data; + Monitoring/reviewing internal financial controls; + Resolving technical accounting, auditing, or budgeting problems; + Preparing financial documents for management review; + Analyzing financial activities and recommending or implementing management actions.
