Finish grind and polish gear tooth edges and roots. Use hand and power tools, scale, square, calipers, feeler gauges, deburring and polishing tools, drills, presses, clamping devices, grinders, tote boxes or containers, jib or overhead crane or hoist, hand truck, drawings, etc. Materials: Parts, pieces and sub-assemblies such as gears, shafts, bushings, brake bands, etc., lubricant, miscellaneous hardware items, etc. **Job duties/Responsibilities** **may include, but are not limited to:** + Identify and prepare parts, gearing and sub-assemblies by cleaning, deburring, polishing, fitting and dressing using file, deburring equipment, etc. Manually or with hoist, jib or overhead crane, jacks, horses, etc., position and align work pieces. Make simple assemblies and sub-assemblies working to drawings, or templates. + May perform operations such as pressing bushings, fitting keys or splines, dressing gear teeth, fit up brake bands, fit gears on shafts and make other simple assemblies or sub-assemblies of similar complexity under the direction of assembler. + Keep facilities, material and work area clean and orderly, exercising care in their use and assisting in their maintenance as required.
