Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Serve as an Electrical Controls and Metrology Technician resource for process improvement, cost reduction and continuous improvement projects. at a manufacturing site. The primary role consists of on-shift technical support for the manufacturing process. Perform 1st level process and equipment troubleshooting. Assist the Manufacturing Team Leader by supporting daily manufacturing operations by providing technical support to the plant’s various control and metrology systems to support the manufacturing of cellular ceramic products.
Provide operations support for manufacturing of cellular ceramic products
Provide day to day operational support with on-shift technical support and troubleshooting Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues impacting equipment availability and product quality Monitor equipment and product performance and respond as necessary Support and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary operations groups Work closely with experienced professionals to design, develop and implement process controls solutions for manufacturing processes. Design, develop and implement process controls solutions for manufacturing processes with a focus on process improvement Perform and document preventative / predictive maintenance procedures Interface with Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Publish production reports and shift turnover Data collection and machine parameter analysis Verification of metrology results consistent with historical values Management of calibration tools and equipment Ensure calibration checks are completed per schedule Recipe set-up and confirm production readiness Support new operations/equipment/processes/products into productionDay-to-Day Responsibilities Serve as an operational resource for troubleshooting of production equipment / process in the Diesel Manufacturing facility in Painted Post NY to support 24/7 manufacturing. Initiate and maintain relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Controls, Process, Equipment Engineering to provide first responder support for manufacturing. Focus will be to safely get the process/equipment back in operation and performing at established rates and quality. Detailed reports of activities will be communicated to Operations and within the Engineering groups. Work closely with controls engineers to implement control sequence logic (both time-based and event-based), fail-safe states, and process /equipment recovery sequences. Drive daily improvement of metrology systems though use of calibration and statistical process monitoring. Provide on floor leadership for solving technical issues with a cross functional team.
Minimal Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
40+ hours per week Rotational shift schedule supporting 24/7 production Requirements Minimum of a Two-year technical degree plus 3 or more years equipment/controls experience Experience integrating field devices for flow control, material handling and metering, motion control, temperature control, and associated safety systems into an overall controls package enabling a fully functional equipment platform. Experience with PID control loop tuning and techniques. Experience working closely with IT & process engineers to implement control sequence logic (both time-based and event-based), fail-safe states and process / equipment recovery sequences. Experience with graphical user interface and human machine interface. Experience working within engineering project teams. Familiar with state-of-the-art technologies in the following areas: control systems integration, controls architectures, PLC’s, motion control systems, electro-mechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision, risk assessment, and safety systems. Possesses an understanding of general mechanics and ability to apply that understanding during troubleshooting and system implementation. Sound problem solving and decision-making skills. Highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment level. Must be able to program in ladder logic or equivalent. Experienced in the checkout and verification of electrical control panels. Desired Experience & Skills Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 1+ years equipment/controls/lab/programming experience Experience preferred with Beckhoff, Labview, Allen-Bradley, Allen-Bradley Safety PLCs, iFIX SCADA, FANUC robots, FANUC CNC machines. Manufacturing experience and ability to work in a manufacturing environment. Computer vision system experience. Experience with programming manufacturing systems using higher level programming languages: C++ or C#, VB or VB.Net Robot programming skills. Sound knowledge of the rules and regulation relating to implementation and best practices in electrical system design and implementation: National Electric Code, NFPA 79 Specification, NFPA 70e Specification, ANSI and IEC electrical symbols, Grounding and shielding of electrical systemsThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $56,926.00 - $78,273.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
