Clearance Requirement: Clearable US Citizen with ability to obtain & maintain HSPD-12 & Secret Active Clearance

License/Certification Requirement: Possess NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II

 What you'll do:

The Fire Alarm Technician supervises Fire Alarm system upgrades and installations, serves as technical advisor on systems programming, configuration, and troubleshooting. 

Responsibilities:

Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies. Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components. Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs. Prepare accurate and timely inspection and service reports Determine materials needed for repairs and order them. Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives. Perform all duties required to successfully complete projects within estimate and according to specifications. Respond to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of fire alarms and adjust, repair or replace equipment as needed to bring into compliance. Read blueprints and drawings. Maintain inventory. Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from M.C. Dean.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED is required. 10+ years of experience in Fire Alarm or 2 years technology degree and 8 years of experience in Fire Alarm Possess NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II Clearable US Citizen with ability to obtain & maintain HSPD & Secret, preferred HSPD-12 & Secret Active   Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm System Theory, OSHA Requirements, and Industry Standards for Fire Alarm systems installation. Any other NICET certification is preferred.

Pay range: $46.00 - $56.00

Abilities:

Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time. Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
