Fire Protection Engineer
Fire Protection Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Fire Protection Engineer for our offices in Philadelphia, PA or Wayne, PA. This role involves performing engineering tasks including fire suppression design, fire alarm design, building assessments, code consulting, and egress analysis. You will join a team of Fire Protection Engineers working on a wide range of projects across the US, including healthcare, manufacturing plants, industrial sites, information technology facilities, educational institutions, museums, and more. The successful candidate will provide design assistance to other engineers and architects for life safety, fire protection systems design, and code analysis. Responsibilities + Prepare Code Studies for complex projects and support Project Architect (PA) performed Code Studies for other projects. + Prepare Life Safety Plans for complex projects and support Project Architect (PA) performed Life Safety Plans for other projects. + Prepare Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm contract documents for complex projects and support Plumbing and Electrical Engineers for other projects. + Assist with code reviews and interpretations. + Assist in site water supply analysis. + Assist Project Architect with egress, construction types, barrier selection, and other building attributes. + Evaluate site water supplies for fire suppression systems design for complex projects. + Meet with AHJs in cooperation with Project Architect to review major code issues. + Integrate fire protection systems with architectural and engineering disciplines. + Review Sprinkler and Fire Alarm system shop drawings. + Assist with performance and report on CFD fire modeling and Egress Modeling. + Lead meetings with clients, code officials, and other project stakeholders to negotiate and resolve fire protection and/or life safety code issues. + Travel regionally, nationally, and internationally in support of project requirements. + Perform other duties as requested or required. Essential Skills + Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering. + 4-6 years of relevant engineering experience. + Experience in analysis and/or design of building fire safety systems. + Experience in code consulting with ICC and NFPA 101. + Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with engineering calculations. + Experience as a Mechanical Project Manager. + Knowledge of building systems, plumbing design, mechanical engineering, and fire protection design. Work Environment The position is based in an office in Wayne or Philadelphia with a few hundred people working in the Philadelphia office. The work environment is business casual.
