Job Description
The Senior Fire Protection Engineer position is a technical role within the firm focused on project execution for various multi- and single-discipline facility design projects. The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for performing multiple aspects of fire protection engineering services on multi-discipline building design projects of small to large scope for commercial and government facilities, as well as single discipline fire protection engineering projects of small to large scope. Additionally, the Senior Fire Protection Engineer will provide leadership to the fire protection team and represent the Department Director.
ResponsibilitiesPerform multiple aspects of fire protection engineering services on multi-discipline building design projects.Handle fire protection engineering projects of varying scope for commercial and government facilities.Provide leadership to the fire protection team.Represent the Department Director in various capacities.Engage in client interaction and manage construction administration and contracts administration.Design fire alarm and fire protection systems using AutoCAD.Essential SkillsMust be a licensed Fire Protection Engineer (PE).Experience with projects in the Architecture & Engineering space.8+ years in the Fire Protection Industry.Experience in construction administration.Proficiency in client interaction and contracts administration.Knowledge of fire alarm and fire protection design.Experience with AutoCAD.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with projects for the Department of Defense (DOD) and/or higher education or educational living.Experience with contract administration on the construction side of fire protection.An engineering degree in a different discipline but PE through the Fire Protection specific fundamentals exam.Work Environment
The work environment includes a team of 4 Fire Protection Engineers, with an intermediate designer having 3 years of experience who is not licensed, and a 25-year experienced individual in Roanoke who started in Mechanical. The environment is hybrid, with 3 days in office and 2 days remote, offering flexibility. Employees can sit out of any of their offices located in Georgia, Virginia, or North Carolina.
