Overview Entry level position that manages the administration, maintenance, construction and development of fire operational functions, including detection and suppression systems, in the facilities and major electrical assets of the LG&E and KU Services Company, its subsidiaries, employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with laws, codes and regulations. This position could be located in Louisville or Lexington, KY. #LG&EKU #INDLGE Responsibilities •Works with company supervision, technicians, vendors and equipment manufacturers to design, install, and maintain facility fire detection/alarm systems and fire suppression equipment. •Maintains knowledge and expertise of all current codes, regulations and laws pertaining to the fire codes and laws and general industry standards that affect the company. •Conducts physical inspections of company facilities, evaluates, and provides timely recommendations to company management. •Coordinates and maintains records for Fire Extinguisher and Fire Alarm testing at KU and LG&E facilities to meet NFPA and state requirements. •Coordinates and attends the inspections of facilities for the company insurance carrier to review and inspect fire protection systems. •Coordinates with and maintains the contracts of outside vendors, including reviewing and approving invoicing. •Establishes and maintains a liaison with applicable fire agencies in areas where the company conducts business. •Develops and maintains a high level of fire industry expertise. •Assists in conducting investigations related to fire-related events at Company facilities. •Assists in conducting fire audits surveys and training and making recommendations as needed. •Identifies, suggests and helps to implement process improvements. •Maintains and operates functions within allotted budget.• Makes field decision within company policy relative to proper courses of action or protection of personnel and property in cases of emergency. •Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree Required Experience Minimum of two or more years of experience in security and fire systems management or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Preferred Qualifications Fire protection background.
