About the opportunity\:

We are currently looking for a Fire Safety Engineer to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington to support the development and delivery of the nuclear safety case for the SNM FS project.

Key Responsibilities\:

Delivery & Development of fire safety strategies for new build nuclear facilities working alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership, mentoring and development to junior fire safety engineers

Here's What You'll Need\:

A degree in engineering or suitable scientific subject. Chartered, or working towards chartership status with the IFE Experience of nuclear fire safety assessment, principally nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management. Experience of application and use of relevant codes (e.g. BS 9999 and BS 9990). Understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions working with regulators e.g. ONR or HSE. Experience in scoping and interpreting the results of fire modelling (CFAST or similar). Experience in developing design solutions encompassing evacuation plans, detection, suppression, alarms, compartmentalisation, and firefighting access/facilities in accordance with industry best practice, policies and procedures whilst considering operational experience and lessons learnt to ensure a robust, low cost, high-quality design. Experience in preparing and coordinating assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions. Experience in assisting nuclear safety case assurance though project, programme and corporate requirements. Demonstrable ability to write clearly and present complex arguments in a well-structured manner, suitable for a varied audience.
