What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: Ensure that the site can maintain its ongoing fire suppression, fire life safety, and future systems project needs. This position is a full-time on-site position.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Approve all site fire protection & life safety MOC’s.

Site MOC Team representative for the Site Fire Safety Leadership Team

Coordinate all design/installation/pre-commissioning/Commissioning/County Permitting.

Write all fire protection & life safety MOC Requests, Start-ups & Closures for the entire site.

Coordinate, review & approve all data input to Documentum for fire protection documents and BPF’s.

Liaison between the site and Chesterfield County Fire Bureau for all fire building permits, inspections, and fire safety issues.

Coordinate and assist the site fire inspector and vendors with monthly & annually scheduled testing with all fire suppression, alarm, and detection systems located throughout the Spruance DuPont site, to ensure reliability of equipment in an emergency situation and to meet NFPA, state, local regulatory guidelines, and standards.

Participate on site cost and capital improvement project teams with specific responsibility to define all fire protection and life safety requirements.

Represent Fire and Life Safety on all project Process Hazard Reviews (PHR’s), technical, aspects, and operational.

Responsible for management of all design implementation, and procedural documentation of all fire life safety equipment

Member of Site Fire Safety Leadership Team and Responsible Care Core Team.

Assist site fire protection maintenance in code interpretation and trouble shooting.

Assist, review, and approve all site fire safety and EH&S manual fire and life safety procedures.

Participate in all site 1st Party fire protection and life safety auditing.

Participate and or conducted with 1st and 2nd Party Fire and Life Safety Audits throughout the corporation.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Public Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: VDFP 1031 Fire Inspector I/II or NFPA Certified Fire Inspector (CFI I/II). (Only one is required).

Experience: This position requires 3+ years of relevant experience in fire protection field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

3+ years experience with interpretation, knowledge and application of state, federal, and local codes and requirements pertaining to commonwealth of Virginia Fire Code, NFPA-National Fire Protection Association, OSHA-Occupational Safety and Health Administration, ANSI-American National Standards Institute, IBC-International Building codes NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, IBC, guidelines, and additional pertinent government and local codes.

Minimum 3 years experience as a fire safety specialist or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years experience of fire and life safety inspections, testing & maintenance of fire suppression systems, alarm systems and detection systems.

Complete Client Site Stage I & II fire safety resources with one year of employment

NFPA Certified Fire & Life Safety Specialist (CFLSS) Not required but within two years of employment.

NICET Level I or II Fire Alarm Certification or must complete certification testing within two years of employment.

Physical Abilities Required:

Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
