Fire Sprinkler Inspector
**Job Title: Foreman - Fire Sprinkler Technician/Inspector** **Job Description** We are looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Technician/Inspector to join our team. You will be responsible for performing onsite troubleshooting and repairs of fire sprinkler systems, identifying code issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and standards. Additionally, you will conduct routine inspections, maintain detailed documentation, and communicate with building owners to explain potential hazards and necessary repairs. **Responsibilities** + Perform onsite troubleshooting and repairs of fire sprinkler systems. + Identify code issues and non-conformance issues. + Conduct routine visual inspections of fire sprinkler systems, including sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, control panels, and other components. + Test system functionality by activating test valves to check water pressure and flow, ensuring proper operation of alarms and notification devices, and testing sprinkler heads where appropriate. + Verify that sprinkler systems comply with relevant building codes and standards, including NFPA codes, local ordinances, and industry best practices. + Maintain detailed inspection reports documenting findings, including any identified deficiencies, necessary repairs, and recommendations for corrective action. + Communicate inspection results to building owners or property managers, explaining potential hazards and providing information about required maintenance or repairs. + Perform re-inspections to verify that identified issues have been addressed and repairs completed properly. **Essential Skills** + Thorough understanding of fire sprinkler system design, components, operation, and maintenance procedures. + Familiarity with relevant fire safety codes and standards, including NFPA codes. + Ability to identify potential issues, analyze findings, and recommend appropriate corrective actions. + Meticulous observation skills to detect even minor damage or malfunctions in the system. + Clear and concise communication to explain technical details to building owners and management. + 1 to 3 years of experience with servicing and repair of fire protection sprinkler systems. + Ability to perform preventative and routine maintenance as well as emergency service calls. + Proficiency in handling and preparing documentation. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Backflow test and repair certification is a plus. + NICET I and NICET II certifications are preferred. + OSHA 10 and OSHA certifications are preferred. + Ability to read blueprints. + High School/Vocational training is a plus. + Working knowledge of fire pumps and underground sprinkler systems. + Understanding of all NFPA and local codes that apply (NFPA 13, 13(R), 13(D), 14, 20, 24). + Ability to discern deficiencies in the system(s) being serviced. **Why Work Here?** We are a top sprinkler firm in NJ with a reputation for working on large, notable projects. Standard hours are from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch break. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and you should have all necessary hand tools and certifications. Overtime is available on Saturdays, with double time for Sunday work and on-call shifts every other month. Holidays are compensated at double time. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, New Jersey. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
