Firearms & Tactics Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Firearms & Tactics Instructors will be responsible for providing quality training, ensuring that each student has a productive, challenging and meaningful experience in the classroom or on the firing range. The primary responsibility of each Instructor is the safety and well-being of all students during all training activities they lead. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum Update course curriculum as directed by management Lead instructors for all core curriculum and contracted courses Teach customized training courses Conducts mobile training Explain and demonstrate use of apparatus and equipment Evaluate the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training Maintain overall safety and organization of the training environment Ensure safety of students Communicate and oversee compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines Ensure accountability for all training equipment Identify training requirements needed in a timely manner to maintain required certifications and Company standards Complete all required continuing education and refresher training programs Complete any additional training and/or certifications required by the government or the contract Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

U.S. Citizenship is required  High school diploma or equivalent is required Must be at least 21 years of age with no legal disqualifiers to possess firearms Eight years of practical experience in Law Enforcement and/or Military Special Operations required Completion of U.S. Military/Law Enforcement (DCJS or POST) Course or equivalent years of experience in tactical instruction techniques required. Must be experienced in instructional techniques and proficient in MS Office    Effective oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office and training environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however schedule may vary, and some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details related to specific working conditions may be outlined in your Statement of Work or Employment Agreement. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 80 lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools. Additional details related to physical requirements may be outlined in the Company's Performance Work Statement or Contract with the client.
