Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will respond to alarms and combat fire in an industrial setting requiring the full performance of a firefighting tasks involving structures, equipment, and facilities. Alternates as a firefighter and driver operator. You will pull and connect hose, lay hose lines, operate charged lines; place and raise ladders; operate portable and stationary firefighting apparatus; ventilate buildings. You will administer emergency medical care; use chemicals, axes, bars, hooks, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and other firefighting equipment to extinguish or mitigate fires and protect life and property. You will serve as a driver-operator of major motorized firefighting equipment, exercising a thorough knowledge of equipment capabilities and physical characteristics. You will operate all equipment connected with an apparatus in accomplishing rescue and fighting fires. You will provide emergency medical care based on assessment findings; treat conditions based on the specific symptoms observed or described by the patient. You will perform initial and on-going focused patient assessment and determine priority of patient care based on assessment findings physical examination. You will open and maintain oral airways, give positive pressure ventilations, control hemorrhage; treat for shock, immobilize fractures, assist in childbirth, manage behavioral emergencies, and provide care for poison and burn patients. You will assist in loading, transporting, and unloading the sick and injured patients. You will collect and interpret hazard and response information from transportation emergency information centers, shippers, manufacturer contacts, printed an online databases, and technical resources, as well as monitoring equipment. You will inspect quarters, office buildings, shops, warehouses, etc., to identify hazards and to maintain familiarization of the facilities. You will perform daily preventive maintenance tasks and inspections on firefighting apparatus, equipment and facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-05Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing the duties of rescue operations in fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and hazardous materials and providing emergency medical treatment to include but not limited to CPR. GS-04Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing the duties of rescue operations in fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and hazardous materials and providing emergency medical treatment. Certifications required for this position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education The following education may be substituted in lieu of the specialized experience: GS-05 Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a bachelor degree or GS-04 Successful completion of a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study. A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
