ABOUT YOU
As a Firefighter/EMT Trainee (Bargaining Unit, Local S-2), you thrive in high-pressure environments, staying calm, focused, and ready to act when every second counts. You adapt to dynamic situations, assessing risks quickly and making sound decisions to protect lives and property. With a disciplined and proactive mindset, you commit to continuous training, ensuring expertise in fire suppression, emergency response, and hazard mitigation. Clear communication and teamwork come naturally, allowing you to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues and partner agencies. You uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and service, always prepared to respond, adapt, and lead when it matters most.
What you will do:
+ Operate emergency response vehicles, equipment, and life safety tools to protect, rescue, and recover victims in various environments, including aircraft, water, tunnels, and confined spaces.
+ Assist with marine rescue operations by operating high-speed rescue boats, fireboats, and other water-based emergency response equipment.
+ Monitor airfield activity, dispatch emergency services, and ensure clear communication with on-duty personnel, mutual aid partners, and emergency response teams.
+ Conduct hazard mitigation efforts, enforce safety regulations, and participate in counter-terrorism activities to reduce risks to people, property, and the environment.
WHAT YOU OFFER
+ High school diploma or equivalent, along with Firefighter II Certification per NFPA Standard 1001.
+ 3+ years’ experience in airport, municipal, or military fire/emergency services.
+ Valid driver’s license unrestricted except for corrective lenses.
+ Ability to successfully complete the Massport Fire-Rescue Recruit Training Program and pass a biannual wellness examination.
