FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC)
Summary You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC) in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES at REGIONAL FIRE DIRECTORATE of NAVSTA. Responsibilities You will complete written reports and records on emergency services incidents, patients, drugs administered equipment, or supplies used. You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will use fire ground tactics to direct highly specialized fire and medical apparatus and equipment. You will collect initial hazardous materials response information from hazardous materials safety data sheets, United Nations/North American (UN/NA) identification numbers, or placards. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To be considered for the GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing fire prevention, fire protection and emergency operations; 2) Performing emergency medical service and hazardous materials responses; 3) Performing airfield fire control, disaster response/control and recovery. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-09: Firefighter I/II, HazMat Awareness/Ops, ARFF, Driver/Operator Pumper, Aerial and ARFF, NREMT-P, ACLS and PALS. In 12 months, Shipboard Firefighter and HazMat Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing rescue operations; 2) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 3) Controlling hazardous material incidents; and 4) Employing established emergency medical techniques, methods, and equipment to stabilize patients for support.
