Responsibilities Engineer to support LAN network optimization and standardization at DOS facilities.Coordinate through DS/CTO to engineer upgrades to WAN links.Engineer and implement high availability load balancing, and dynamic service health checks to maximize availability of all public-facing websites in the Public DMZs.In conjunction with other DOS teams, engineer, implement, and monitor denial of service detection.Lead the support of upgrades required to connect partner agencies to the DS IT network infrastructure.Design enhancements and upgrades to systems for potential future cloud integration/migration.Develop, document and maintain standards and procedures manuals, and performance management procedures that meet DS/CTO's requirements.Perform network component tuning to maintain optimum performance in accordance with change management procedures.Operates and maintains network environments that support connectivity for DOS information technology systems.Works with DS and partner organizations to establish and maintain secure WAN/LAN connectivity.Participate in the implementation and troubleshooting of Firewall Rules for networking devices and application communications and connectivity.Participate in Configuration Change Boards.Diagram, document, and maintain configuration management artifacts for Network and Firewall Environments.Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and API gateways per established DOS policies and procedures.
Monitors, identifies, and manages network performance issues such as over-utilization, latency, CPU utilization, IDS/IPS, memory allocation, packet loss, and availability.Performs root cause analysis and documents all existing and potential network/firewall problems and outages associated with corrective actions.Analyzes network equipment logs to identify trends and problems and maximize network performance through continuous monitoring and troubleshooting.Participate in planning meetings to execute proactive system upgrades and new technology implementations.Other duties as assigned
