These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado veterans. Description of Job This position supports Army National Guard training functions by the day-to-day management of the firing range on Ft. Carson. Working hours for this position are Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: + scheduling ranges using the automated Range Facility Maintenance Support System; + acting as Officer in Charge, in absence of the Firing Range Manager; + conducting all range operations in accordance with Army standards; + implementing the Range Safety Program, ensuring that safety personnel on the range are certified; + assisting other range control personnel in the verification of correct surface danger zone diagrams in support of new ranges or new range construction; + using and monitoring the Computer Controlled Integrated Target Systems control panel to develop training scenarios, ensure correct operations, create reports, make necessary adjustments to ensure proper integration and correct operation, identify and correct malfunctions, and repair and replace faulty components; + installing targets on various devices; + repairing, removing, replacing, and adjusting wood, plastic, and cardboard targets and components; + conducting briefings, tours, and interfacing directly with military, civilian, and law enforcement agencies; + assisting with budgets; and + serving on installation working groups and committees. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications + Four years of experience operating a firing range of which included: + one year working on computerized firing targets; + one year performing technical repairs to firing range equipment; and + one year testing and welding circuit boards. + Must have and able to maintain a Colorado Driver's License. Conditions of Employment + Must be willing to work a compressed work week of Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with some additional hours on weekends as needed. + Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance within six months of employment. + Must be able to pass a CBI and background investigation prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications Current or former military member with an honorable discharge.
