Firmware Software Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Firmware Software Engineer to architect, design, and develop full stack software applications within the IoT domain. You will be part of a dynamic team supporting a digital transformation by creating IoT applications that deliver new insights to our diverse customer base. Responsibilities + Work with stakeholders to document system requirements for backend stack components or IoT applications + Participate in new product development as part of a cross-functional team involving hardware, software, SME professionals, and external partners + Develop and test IoT systems, including IoT edge devices and backend stack components + Stay on the cutting edge of technology by continually evaluating new tools, techniques, and processes + Support firmware development for circuit boards controlling commercial dish machine operations + Develop firmware that communicates with a gateway to send and receive data from the cloud + Collaborate with other software engineers and dish machine designers to ensure software meets design requirements Essential Skills + 3 or more years working in C or C++ in embedded firmware development + Experience working with ESP32 WIFI modules + Experience with embedded RTOS or bare-metal development + Experience in supporting Embedded Firmware Platform and Board Support Package development + Proficiency in Python + Experience with device drivers and serial communication protocols, such as UART, SPI, and I2C Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Microsoft Azure IoT embedded systems + Experience in one or more of the following areas: bootstrap loader, embedded file systems, system controls, Linux, CAN Bus development, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP + Experience with Agile development methodologies + Experience in ARM-based microcontrollers, such as Microchip, NXP, Silicon Labs, or ST Micro + Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team while handling multiple tasks or projects Work Environment This role involves working in an engineering environment with a team of software engineers developing a new embedded system for controlling a commercial dish machine. You will participate in project update meetings, DevOps, and agile project management meetings.
