JOB SUMMARY:
The Firmware Engineering position encompasses the (hands-on) design, analysis, and testing of software and firmware interface with electronic systems used for valve actuation and control. The scope of activities include maintenance and/or improvement of existing devices or systems as well as the development of new devices or systems responsibilities include project management from concept through production release. The position requires customer interface, occasional travel to customer sites (naval shipyards, trade shows and vendors), as well as production, manufacturing and purchasing support. The Firmware Engineer is also responsible to assist technicians when questions or issues arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design:Software and firmware design and development for valve actuation and control systems. Includes parts list and tech manual generation. Often includes bench work (prototyping) etc.
Maintenance of existing software and firmware versions:To ensure compatibility with hardware and ship communication protocols.
Test:Test regimen development, test method and procedure development, data recording and analysis, and report writing involving valve operator systems and controls.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of products and electrical industry requirements.Experience with process control devices, industrial data networks, electronic or electro-mechanical sensors, valves, or fluid mechanics preferred.Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and Firmware development and simulation environments such as Assembler, BASIC, C, C++, Visual BasicDemonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a group.Must be a US citizenMust possess the mental capacity to comprehend information provided daily and make own decisions.EDUCATION / TRAINING:
