Job Summary/Description:

WCAX is seeking a Chief Meteorologist with a passion for weather, a dynamic on-air personality, and the ability to deliver a detailed weather story that helps our viewers plan their day and keeps them alerted to changing weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in meteorology, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead and inspire a team. Experience with the First Alert weather brand and methodology is preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Lead daily weather coverage and special weather reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Develop and deliver compelling forecasts that resonate with our audience.
• Respond urgently to breaking and severe weather events on all platforms, including linear, digital, and social media.
• Present live in the studio or in the field, as needed.
• Utilize cutting-edge technology and tools to analyze weather patterns and data.
• Collaborate with the news team to integrate weather coverage into daily news programming.
• Mentor and train junior meteorologists.
• Represent the station at community events and outreach programs.

Qualifications/Requirements:-

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in broadcast meteorology.
• Strong on-air presence with excellent storytelling abilities.
• Ability to communicate complex meteorological concepts in an accessible way.
• Proficiency in weather software, graphics, and technology.
• Proven experience in severe weather coverage and crisis communication.
• Strong leadership qualities and self-motivation
• A valid Driver's License with a good driving record
