Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities What to Expect Responsible for the operations and programming of a Fitness Center that may average 6,000 patrons per week. The facility consists of cardiovascular machines, selectorized exercise machines, free weights and plate loaded benches and machines, televisions, stereo sound system, saunas, and locker rooms. Other amenities may include racquetball courts, indoor basketball courts, a juice bar, aerobics room, computerized fitness testing room, towel laundry service, and childcare area. Manages the budget (over $100,000), and directly supervises employees. Establishes work schedules to ensure adequate personnel are available to support scheduled events and daily workload. Provides on-the-job training (e.g., equipment usage, fitness principles, telephone etiquette) to ensure employees are proficient in current job duties and responsibilities, and are aware of MCCS and Fitness policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include: purchasing supplies; acts as a resource for patrons regarding fitness development; acts as the Fire Marshal for the facility; prepares reports as requested; conducts interviews and makes recommendation to the hiring authority; evaluates programs, and makes recommendations accordingly. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, signing timesheets, and training employees. A minimum of three years experience in planning, organizing, and administering in a fitness related field, one year having been in a supervisory level preferred. A degree from an accredited college/university in Fitness or a related field is preferred. First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and CPR certification is required within 6 months of employment. Must have ability to supervise, deal effectively with subordinates, management officials and patrons, and to communicate both orally and in writing.
