Fitness Specialist (CYS) NF-03
Summary This position is located at Fort Campbell Child & Youth Services (CYS). This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Responsibilities Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of installation youth fitness, health, and outreach programs in multiple CYS settings. Develops and maintains and partnerships with schools and community organizations. Within an existing curriculum, develops and implements lesson plans and appropriate environments that incorporate a broad range of fitness and health activities for early childhood, school age, and youth program participants. Assists in training coaches using the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines. Provides assistance in planning practices to warm up/cool down techniques, injury prevention, proper use of materials and equipment. Shares expertise in the operation of age-appropriate exercises and skills development for children and youth. Helps inspect facilities/programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and makes recommendations for improvements. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities as appropriate. Maintains control of and accountability for all attending children and youth. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques to establish a program that promotes positive child, youth, staff, and parent interactions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications A bachelor's degree or higher in exercise physiology, exercise Science, kinesiology, physical education, or other fitness-related disciplines OR All of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level: 1. Experience in the application of fitness principles, concepts, and techniques gained through the delivery of a comprehensive group fitness program. 2. Experience or education demonstrating the knowledge of basic health and nutrition concepts. 3. Experience training coaches or other professionals (i.e., teachers, caregivers, fitness instructors) in the proper application of sports or fitness techniques. Those meeting both Highly Preferred criteria along with the minimum qualifications will be referred before those meeting only the minimum criteria. Highly Preferred candidates will possess all of the following: experience in the planning, evaluation, or delivery of a fitness program or curriculum specifically for children or youth or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.). This experience must be clearly listed on your resume to be considered for Highly Preferred status. Education Proof of education is required at the time of application, if applicable. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials This is a NF pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
