POSITION SUMMARY
The Fitness Specialist is a member of the multidisciplinary team who may be required to work in collaboration with the physician. The Fitness Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing appropriate physical activities in a professional and safe manner to all clients/members, based on their training to appropriately meet their health and fitness needs.
The Fitness Specialist may be responsible for the development of program specific fitness materials and education. They also may be responsible for participation in departmental meeting and training sessions.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Exercise Science or related science required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLSHCP certification required. ACSM Health Fitness instructor, NSCA or ACE Personal Trainer certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Experience working with adolescent population in a medical fitness program preferred for the Child Weight Management Fitness Specialist
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires frequent walking and standing and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Executive Director Life Center. The Child Weight Management Fitness Specialist reports to the Program Manager.
