Job Title: Fitter
Job Description

A Fitter specializes in fitting tubular structures and reading blueprints. We are currently seeking skilled fitters to fabricate, fit, and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems. To be successful in this role, you should be detail-oriented, focused, and adept at interpreting blueprints. You must be able to safely use hand and power tools and demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

ResponsibilitiesFitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials using appropriate techniques.Interpreting and working in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.Laying out and assembling subunits or units of materials for large or specialized projects which are then welded into position by welders.Ensuring products are fitted to job specifications and meet outlined requirements for quality UT passable welds.Specializing in fitting transmission power poles, Substation A-Frames, High mast poles, Highway sign poles, and other tubular structures.Reading and comprehending complex blueprints, drawings, and chalk lines.Adjusting fittings based on the twist and camber of the pole.Working on A1 Frames and 12-sided poles.Using geometry to manage angles, degrees, and pivot points.Fitting up poles with high mast fixtures.Setting up equipment, organizing, and laying out workstations appropriately.Using welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc.Using temperature sticks and welding fillet gauges.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED1 to 2 years fitter experienceExperience with overhead and gantry cranesAbility to read and comprehend complex blueprints and drawingsProficiency in geometry for managing angles, degrees, and pivot pointsExperience with flux core weldingKnowledge of welding symbols, welding diagrams, and blueprints/shop drawingsAdditional Skills & QualificationsAbility to set up equipment and organize workstationsKnowledge of a variety of welder concepts, practices, and proceduresAbility to work in extreme temperaturesAbility to work additional hours as neededWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

Heavy Industrial Steel Manufacturing facility. The environment can be cold or hot depending on the time of year and is non-climate controlled. You will be working every other weekend.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $59280.00/yr.
