The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for recording and maintaining timely and accurate financial information related to the accounting of new and existing fixed assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the fixed asset ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Administer capitalization, depreciation, retirements, and transfers of fixed assets.
Conduct regular reconciliations of fixed asset accounts, including resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
Ensure adherence to GAAP and applicable regulations in fixed asset reporting.
Collaborate with project teams to track construction-in-progress (CIP) and facilitate timely capitalization.
Prepare detailed reports and schedules to support internal and external audits.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure proper recording and classification of fixed assets.
Monitor and implement changes in fixed asset policies and accounting standards.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance fixed asset accounting operations.
Proactively identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to address them.
Demonstrates ambition and a desire to grow within the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, fixed assets experience is a preferred.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP and fixed asset accounting principles.
Experience with ERP systems; proficiency in Workday is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
