Job Description
We are seeking a Fixed Asset Manager to oversee the management and tracking of the company's fixed assets throughout their lifecycle. This role involves 80% preparation and 20% review, requiring strong analytical skills, people management skills, and knowledge of accounting principles. The Fixed Asset Manager will serve as the Subject Matter Expert and point of escalation for internal teams on Fixed Asset related matters, and must possess strong leadership capabilities and excellent written and communication skills to present to senior finance management.
ResponsibilitiesOversee all processes related to the tracking, controlling, and disposal of the company’s fixed assets.Develop and implement a robust system of controls, procedures, and forms to accurately record fixed assets.Manage the review and approval of balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of the fixed assets register and the calculation of depreciation for all fixed assets in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.Regularly conduct impairment reviews for intangible assets and investigate potential obsolescence of fixed assets, proposing appropriate actions.Analyze fixed asset data as requested by management to support decision-making, managing, modeling, and forecasting depreciation and Capex.Partner with the income tax team to deliver accurate and timely tax depreciation data, including bonus depreciation, ensuring compliance and maximizing benefits.Manage the preparation of audit schedules related to fixed assets and provide support to internal and external auditors during their inquiries, representing the company during any government audits involving fixed assets.Oversee the preparation of property tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.Champion process enhancements in Fixed Assets automation, driving efficiency and accuracy.Lead and develop direct reports with timely meaningful written and verbal feedback, effective coaching, and guidance fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation.Maintain and improve technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments, and technical authorities.Perform additional duties as assigned by management.Essential Skills5+ years of professional work experience in asset management, accounting, or finance, with 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role.Significant in-depth knowledge of fixed assets, generally accepted accounting principles, tax accounting, and tax law.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, and manage highly sensitive and confidential information.Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.Ability to build cross-functional partnerships across the business.Additional Skills & QualificationsBig 4 or larger retailer experience is a plus.Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Work Environment
This is a fully remote position with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. The candidate must be located in the PST time zone and will report to the Senior Tax Manager. This role is to cover a 3-6 month leave of absence, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $47.00 - $49.00/hr.
