Fixed Equipment Principal Engineer
Fixed Equipment Principal Engineer City Bishop State/Province Texas Overview:

The Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with reliability program requirements for site fixed equipment and components. This role is responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to reduce losses resulting from fixed equipment. This role will serve as the program owner for the site's fixed equipment mechanical integrity program. 

Responsibilities: Ensure process and equipment is running at entitlement reliability targets and anticipate potential emerging issues.Communicate technical problems and/or opportunities in terms of business risk with a ‘Case for action’ that includes mitigations/proposed solutions.Perform detailed root cause analyses to understand equipment failures and develop effective solutions. Lead reliability investigations including action plan implementation.Creates predictive and preventative maintenance care plans, and ensures fixed equipment ITPM program is being executed on time and within budget.Consult with internal technical experts, vendors, or outside consultants when necessary. Conduct vendor shop visits and repair oversight .Support Site MOC process, including Reliability approval of new or modified equipment designs and changes to fixed equipment care plansLead reliability investigations for fixed equipment failures, including proper application of RCA process and corrective action plans.Develop action plans to achieve results, including recommendations to resolve emerging issues as part of the “Bad Actor” ProcessCollaborate with Asset Leaders and Reliability Manager to understand and set priority for fixed equipment/system repairs impacting reliability.Build strategy around fixed equipment reliability system training and knowledge support; Creates and delivers training to develop the technical capabilities of the reliability, maintenance and operations team.Network with other manufacturing sites to share best practices.Identify programs and initiatives around piping systems to drive reliability improvements.Provide technical data to regulatory agencies as requiredProvide technical review of engineering projects; work with OEMs, unit and project teams on specification and selection of new equipment; participates in factory acceptance tests for new installations as appropriate

 

Qualifications

Technical expertise: Strong knowledge and understanding of fixed equipment, and components including pressure vessels, piping systems, boilers, and relief devices. This includes proficiency in design, analysis, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.Reliability engineering knowledge: Familiarity with reliability engineering principles, methodologies, and tools is important. This includes knowledge of reliability analysis techniques, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis (RCA), and condition monitoring techniques to reduce predictable failures and minimize production downtime.Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for identifying and resolving reliability issues. The ability to analyze data, perform risk assessments, and develop effective solutions is important.Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance technicians, engineers, and management. The ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders is also important.Continuous improvement mindset: A willingness to continuously learn and improve is essential. Being proactive in identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and equipment reliability enhancement is highly valued. Qualifications:

Required Skills

Degree in Mechanical EngineeringAPI 510 required.10+ years of experience with Fixed Equipment within the chemical or petrochemical industry.Any Pressure Vessel Software experience (PV Elite, Inspect, Unity, SketchUp, Blender...)Proficiency in reliability tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and condition monitoring techniques.Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Demonstrated experience problem solving and troubleshooting on a variety of systems.Able to create a plan and deliver results on time and to expectations.Can work independently and drive team goals forward. Ability to conduct and lead meetings. 

 

Desired Skills

 

API 570 Credentials preferred.Candidates possessing relevant certifications, such as PE, Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is a plus.
