POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary role of the Fixed Income Investment Specialist (IS) - Insurance Solutions is to partner with our dedicated team of insurance portfolio managers, portfolio specialists, and business development executives to service, develop and expand existing and new relationships within the insurance sector across Property & Casualty, Life & Health, Multi-line and Reinsurance companies.
A primary objective of the role is to engage in a consultative manner with insurance clients, prospects and consultants on the unique issues facing insurance companies such as regulatory restraints, accounting and capital requirements, asset-liability management and strategic asset allocation considerations. Importantly, this role will also partner with insurance portfolio managers on these issues to help create custom portfolio solutions and drive long-term results for our clients.
The IS - Insurance Solutions will also partner closely with portfolio specialists who support our insurance clients to represent our overall insurance asset management capabilities such that we minimize the amount of time spent by our insurance portfolio management teams communicating with prospects, clients, and consultants; enabling investors to place maximum focus on the investment process, while at the same time helping to ensure that the firm excels in its insurance sales and client service efforts.
Travel is required to meet with clients, prospects and consultants located primarily across the US. However, this role is global in nature and will likely require occasional travel to EMEA and APAC.
The IS - Insurance Solutions also works closely with sales, consultant relations, client service and other internal staff to communicate relevant information regarding the insurance strategies supported, including reviewing the impact of regulatory environment changes, industry trends, portfolio composition considerations, etc. The IS - Insurance Solutions is accompanied by sales and client service professionals in meetings and presentations.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Support the gathering and retention of assets under management by working closely with insurance sales, client service, portfolio management and portfolio specialist professionals. Represent our full range of insurance asset management capabilities in meetings with insurance prospects, clients, and consultants.
2. Serve as the insurance expert on the regulatory environment and constraints, capital allocation and risk budgeting, strategic asset allocation, peer analysis and industry trends. Use expertise to provide insight and guidance for external and internal stakeholders.
3. Leverage insurance expertise to support insurance portfolio managers in designing custom insurance portfolio solutions.
4. Support the servicing of client portfolios by insurance portfolio managers and portfolio specialists.
5. Partner and coordinate with insurance portfolio manager(s) and portfolio specialist(s) on franchise management of our insurance business. This includes participating on cross-functional teams on go-to-market strategy, product positioning and strategic business plan execution.
6. Act as a resource for internal staff, including insurance portfolio specialists and analysts, institutional writers, and other staff responsible for producing and delivering insurance content to internal and external audiences.
7. Alongside insurance portfolio specialist, represent portfolio manager(s) in external engagements with prospects and clients.
8. Maintain in-depth knowledge of insurance industry regulations and trends, as well as our insurance investment management capabilities. Attend industry conferences, maintain insurance peer networks, attend internal investment meetings, read research reports, utilize information services, etc. to maintain knowledge base required to successfully represent insurance portfolio managers and insurance investment capabilities.
9. Provide insurance industry education to internal staff in one-on-one or group settings
as appropriate.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and significant, relevant work experience.
10 + years of relevant insurance industry experience, either at a US insurance company or within the insurance segment of an established asset management company.
Fluency with asset/liability and risk budgeting frameworks used by insurance companies in determining their overall asset allocation.
Deep understanding of the underlying actuarial, accounting, and regulatory issues that drive investment management decision-making.
Deep knowledge of the unique investment objectives and buying behaviors across the insurance industry and broad and deep understanding of fixed income markets specifically.
Must have a passion for the investment business with a deep understanding of investment concepts and have a strong working knowledge of investment strategies and tactics used to managed insurance assets.
Demonstrated track record of success in effectively communicating complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences.
Exceptional relationship management skills with ability to interact well with portfolio managers, other investment professionals, sales and client service professionals, and institutional clients and consultants.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to work well within a collegial, but fast paced and unstructured environment.
Highly motivated and a self-starter.
Possess a high level of personal integrity and a passion for achieving competitive results.
Possess a high energy level and drive to succeed coupled with the poise and temperament necessary to work effectively in a team environment.
Advanced degree and/or CFA preferred -

This role is eligible for full time remote work.
Base salary ranges:
$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: California, New York$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C
$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locations
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
