What You’ll Be Doing

The Fixed Income Production Application Support Consultant supports CIBC’s trading and risk management systems for bonds and interest rate derivatives. This role works with traders to solve technical problems and document new requirements. He or she acts as an advocate for the front office in discussions with vendors and with the broader technology team.

How You’ll Succeed

Diagnose and resolve technical problems with fixed income trading systems (Bloomberg TOMS/Broadway). Escalate issues to software vendors or to our infrastructure providers. Prioritize when several issues occur simultaneously. Provide timely updates to the affected traders and to technology managers.

Apply Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for incident, change, and problem management. Manage major incidents in cooperation with CIBC’s Enterprise Incident Management team.

Provide first-level support for spreadsheet-based market data and pricing processes. Escalate to quantitative analytics team or business analysts when required.

Support the components of xTrader, our cross-asset portfolio management platform, that relate to interest rate derivatives and government bonds , convertible bonds business and structured rates trading business.

Gather business requirements from traders. Liaise with the business analyst and project management team in Toronto.

Oversee application releases that affect traders in New York. Test changes and provide feedback before release.

Build an effective working relationships with the fixed income traders, the broader technology team, and external vendors.

Document processes and recurring issues, e.g. on the team wiki. Share knowledge within the team.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience in. Windows and Linux with a high-level understanding of TCP/IP networking and other infrastructure components. Experience with Bloomberg TOMS, Broadway, or broker trading screens in addition to application monitoring tool, e.g. Dynatrace or ITRS Geneos is ideal. You also have an experience with Microsoft Excel, including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL) Familiarity with straight-through processing, e.g. the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol, and with a scripting language in addition to software development life cycle, including requirements gathering and testing is valuable. This is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills, experience with fixed income markets, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trade floor environment. You must have an ability to work independently with the support of a larger team in Toronto. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills; a demonstrated ability to work effectively with demanding users in a fast-paced trade floor environment.

You possess a post-secondary degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, finance, or another analytical discipline. Knowledge of financial mathematics, derivative pricing, and risk management (“Greeks”) with applications to fixed income markets.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected salary range of $113, 400 - $138,500 for the New York, New York State market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.  The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
