Salary Range $17.68-$23.91/Hour
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform routine vehicle maintenance on County-owned vehicles and equipment.
This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; and operates and maintains basic mechanics tool kit and/or vehicle-specific maintenance tool sets.
Performs oil changes on automobiles and light and heavy duty trucks; removes and replaces oil and oil filters; checks/replaces fluid levels; dispenses diesel exhaust fluid for light trucks; and properly disposes of used materials.
Performs chassis lubrication of heavy duty trucks; and lubricates upper and lower ball joints, drive shaft, rear axle, and steering column.
Inspects fuel sites for leaks, damages, or any hazardous situations; and makes minor repairs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Some positions may be required to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the level of equipment operated within six (6) months of starting employment in this classification.
