Do you thrive in a fast-paced, diverse environment? If so, this may be a great role for you! As a Fleet Operations Specialist, you will interact with internal customers throughout the business, while ensuring that our fleet is operating properly, well maintained, and readily available when needed. You will help manage a commercial fleet between 1,000-1,500 including trailers, trucks, cars, and equipment. This role will support American Water's midwest territory. _ *Position Details*_ Posted Range: $59,280-$99,060 The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. American Water is also proud to offer employees learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professionally! _ *Primary Role*_ /The Fleet Operations Specialist handles the day-to-day activities critical to the effective management of fleet vehicles and on-road equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining fleet inventory data accuracy, vehicle order placement, validation of replacement plans, exception report corrective actions, processing fleet related invoices and reconciling credits, and acting as the internal point of contact for fleet related matters in support of business operations and end users./ _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * Maintains vehicle and equipment inventory data to ensure accuracy and completeness of vehicle attributes are kept up to date. * Executes vehicle ordering to support capital investment plans of the business in compliance with fleet and procurement policies. * Works with internal stakeholders to validate vehicle replacement plans. * Interface with fleet management company and other suppliers to track vehicle order to delivery status * Ensures vehicle and other fleet invoice exceptions are handled to provide timely payment of fleet invoices. * Monitors and communicates fleet exception and performance reporting. * Tracks and executes on vehicle dispositions to ensure settlement funds are correctly allocated and replaced vehicles are taken out of service. * Acts as an internal point of contact for fleet related items in support of end users. * General fleet administration activities related to fleet operations (fuel card, PIN, tag & title, maintenance program) _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Understands core concepts of data management conventions and reporting * Fundamental knowledge of fleet management principles and best practices * Basic understanding of regulated utility accounting preferred * Ability work in a collaborative team environment within Supply Chain and stakeholders * Knowledge of fleet management programs, policies, and processes. * Extensive knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Products * Knowledge and ability to utilize e procurement tools effectively * SAP procurement systems * SAAS Procurement platforms * Microsoft Office suite; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, OneNote * Ability to work on multiple assignments effectively. * Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve routine and non-routine issues, developing possible solutions to problems and challenges. * Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, leadership, ability to motivate others. * Effective verbal and written communications skills (e.g., report writing, listening, and presentation). _ *Experience/Education*_ * Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, engineering or related disciplines. * Work related experience in lieu of degree may be considered. * 4+ years total work experience with a minimum of 2+ years of fleet operations, procurement or category management experience * Utility procurement experience a plus * Experience working in matrixed organizations _ *Certifications & Licenses*_ * Valid state driver’s license _ *Work Schedule*_ * Full-time * Monday-Friday, daylight hours * On-call responsibility _ *Travel Requirements*_ * Up to 25% local/regional, as required _ *Work Environment*_ * Standard indoor office environment _ *Competencies*_ Champions safety Collaborates Cultivates innovation Customer obsessed Drives Results Nimble learning * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing*™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants* *based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.*
