Fleet Technician

Job Summary:

The Fleet Technician will perform maintenance and repair of all Goodwill Industries vehicles, trailers, forklifts, trucks and other warehouse equipment in an effort to cost effectively ensure safe operations and to prolong the useful life of the equipment.

Job Description

Essential Functions

Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency roadside repair in a safe efficient, and quality manner. Comply with all state and federal regulations in regards to vehicle maintenance and repairs.Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit.Repair and maintain all Goodwill Industries forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as assigned within scheduled time frame, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment. Fabricate parts as required including any design work needed.Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.Perform DOT inspections.Perform preventive maintenance on trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs.Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.Other duties as assigned by management.Fabricate parts as needed to complete repair including any design work. Perform welding repair to manufacturer's guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills:

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment.Skilled in welding and cutting.Skilled in DOT inspections.Ability to operate various pieces of equipment.

Experience

Five (5) years experience in the maintenance of transportation equipment is required.Current and valid driver's license - Must be able to pass MVR search.DOT Certification

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of engines and controls.Knowledge of transmissions and controls.Knowledge of brakes and suspensions.Self-motivated to work independently toward agreed upon goals and objectives.Possess written and verbal communication skills.Ability to relate well with clients, employees, and others interfacing with the transportation department, donation department and production department.Basic computer skills.Welding, electrical, hydraulics, diesel/gasoline/propane mechanics, air brakes, painting, working with sheet metal, HVAC and mounting and dismounting tires.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

Prefer certification from an accredited school in diesel/gasoline/propane mechanics
