Fleet Transportion Consultant

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk Consulting team at Marsh as a Fleet Transportion Consultant. This role will be based in Montreal or Toronto. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Fleet Safety and Risk Control Consultant within the Marsh Advisory Consulting team that provides fleet and transportation risk consulting advice to a wide variety of transportation and commercial clients. Moreover, the colleague will play an integral role in supporting the growth of the transportation practice within Marsh by establishing key relationships and developing innovative service offerings. 

Requires knowledge of the transportation industry, fleet safety management controls, fleet operations, advance active safety technologies, general employee health and safety practices, Canadian and US fleet safety regulations, Canadian National Safety Code (NSC) standards, USDOT-FMCSA, Transport Canada Acts and Regulations and Canadian Provincial Regulations, Highway Traffic Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Worker’s Compensation regulations, trucking employment related labor standard and, broad knowledge of fleet insurance.

We will count on you to:

Applies advanced and up to date knowledge of the industry to consult clients on mitigation of risk including developing and adjusting project approaches, methodology, and tools to support risk programs and initiatives

Perform audits/assessments at client sites (Canada and US)  including recommendations for loss prevention to improve the quality of risk

Develop and conduct management and employee safety training sessions for clients and drivers as needed

Develop and implement safety, regulatory and best practice strategies and programs for our clients

Evaluate current safety programs, processes and strategies to prevent losses and driver injuries

Conduct data analysis including telematic data, historical loss and ROI data to identify trends and loss countermeasures

Provide consulting services to clients on products, services and industry best practices

Support brokerage in building successful business/working relationships with clients

Sound understanding of industry trends to fully understand client's business and risk environment

Acts to drive the development of project proposals in support of new and expanded business opportunities

High degree of self-motivation and discipline 

Ability to travel and work beyond normally scheduled work-week as necessary

What you need to have:

A minimum of 7 years experience in transportation safety, compliance and operations.

Bachelor degree or College diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of risk control and safety procedures, including but not limited to Canada-National Safety Code, Transport Canada Acts and Regulations and Canadian Provincial Regulations, USDOT-FMCSA, Transportation of Dangerous Good, Worker’s Compensation, Highway Traffic Act and trucking employment related labor standards.

Strong client relationship, time management and organizational skills.

Highly developed oral and written communication skills. Proficient in English language (speaking, reading and writing).

Travel required, mainly domestic.

What makes you stand out:

Experience with large size fleet operations, tanker operations and heavy haul trucking would be an asset.

Professional designations (CRM and/or NATMI issued CDS, CDT) are preferred.

Broker, insurer, or third party/private sector experience preferred.

Requires valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR (possession of a Commercial Driver’s License and past experience operating a commercial motor vehicle is desired, although not required).

Bilingual preferred

Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $73,000 to $162,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
