This is a temporary position.
As a AX Visual Quality Assurance Specialist, your role is to audit, evaluate, and manage the visual quality of our Associate enterprise digital products at Marriott International. You'll work alongside product design and development teams to identify and resolve visual defects, ensuring all products meet design system specifications and functionality standards. With expertise in both visual design and front-end development, you'll help create an efficient, streamlined process for product testing, component auditing, defect reporting and resolution. All with a human-centered, accessibility, and design system innovation approach.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Visual Audits & Evaluation:**
+ Conduct comprehensive visual audits of web applications ensuring they align with design specifications and maintain visual consistency.
+ Identify, document, and evaluate visual defects, ensuring that they meet product and user experience standards.
+ Collaborate with designers and developers to review visual assets and validate their quality before release.
**Defect Identification & Reporting:**
+ Create and manage a thorough process to report visual issues, providing all necessary details to facilitate quick and accurate fixes.
+ Gather test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality
+ Manage the lifecycle of visual defects through bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trello), ensuring timely resolution and retesting.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration:**
+ Work closely with design, development, and product teams to resolve visual defects and ensure that the final product aligns with both functional and aesthetic goals.
+ Act as a liaison between teams, offering insight and feedback on visual inconsistencies, design clarity, and usability concerns.
+ Assist in translating visual issues to developers clearly and actionable.
**Front-End Code Integration:**
+ Apply knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to identify potential code-related issues affecting the visual design.
+ Test and validate responsive design implementations and cross-browser compatibility to ensure consistent rendering across devices and platforms.
+ Ensure that visual defects are tracked at both the design and code levels, collaborating with developers to implement fixes.
**Process Improvement:**
+ Develop and optimize Visual Quality Assurance processes to ensure efficient workflows and thorough documentation.
+ Implement tools and techniques to streamline bug reporting, helping to capture and communicate visual defects in a more efficient and clear manner.
+ Mentor and train junior QA team members on best practices for visual quality assurance, ensuring high standards are consistently met across the team.
**Maintain Quality Standards:**
+ Advocate for best practices in visual consistency, accessibility, and user-centered design across all digital products.
+ Ensure that accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) are followed in the visual design and functionality of the product.
+ Review and manage QA process while embedded in a design and development squad
+ Comfortable using tools and platforms such as GitHub and/or Jira to manage QA process and collaboration
**Qualifications:**
**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
**Experience:**
+ 2+ years of experience in visual quality assurance
+ Proven track record in creating detailed, actionable bug reports and working with teams to resolve visual defects.
+ Proven track record of collaborating and closely embedded with both designers and development work-flows
**Skills:**
+ Proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and knowledge of responsive design.
+ Strong understanding of visual design principles (typography, color theory, layout, etc.) and how they apply to digital products.
+ Expertise in identifying and documenting visual defects, providing clear, detailed, and actionable bug reports.
+ Proficient in design tools such as Figma.
+ Comfortable using bug-tracking software (e.g., Jira, Trello) to manage defect lifecycles.
+ Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify both small and large visual discrepancies.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0/2.1) and testing tools.
+ Experience with Agile/Scrum workflows and understanding of design sprints.
+ Knowledge of automated testing tools or QA frameworks for front-end applications.
The pay range for this position is $44.90 to $71.35 per hour.
