Summary
The Flight Demo Customer Specialist, Sr is responsible for compiling the equipment loadouts, preparing and executing Flight Demonstrations as the operator, interacting with demo audiences, maintaining the internal team event calendar, support engineering flight tests, keeping accountability of the bailment pool for the customer loaners, and will organize and track the internal equipment pool. This role will support the MacCready Works segment of AeroVironment.
Position Responsibilities
Performs flight demonstrations in Support of AV product lines
Develops an extensive knowledge of AV’s products/services and current operational procedures to ensure proper application
Works with internal engineering staff to identify product/technology needs and assist in testing/deploying products
Schedules coordination and organization
Organizes and accountable for equipment
Maintains team owned flight facilities and assets
Pre and post flight equipment checkout and packout
Operates aircraft with COTS autopilots and GCS
Operates aircraft with AV autopilots and GCS
Cross-trains new flight demo operators
Establishes and maintains flight demo and Crew Resource Management best practices
Conducts event readiness reviews and debriefs
Generates after action reports
Aids in development of acceptance test procedures and operations & service manuals
Works on technical assignments that involve troubleshooting, requiring judgment in resolving issues
Manages self and others in the field with limited supervision
Frequently required to travel within the Continental U.S. or Internationally
Occasionally required to work overtime, nights or weekends as required for demo/test environment
Must have clean driving record (operate rental and AV owned vehicles)
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
8+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Knowledgeable in military techniques, tactics, and procedures; operations, GPS and Navigation utilizing map and compass
Experience flying recreational remote control aircraft; both fixed wing and rotary wing preferred
Experience operating missile systems and uncrewed aircraft
Must be able to maintain visual line of sight of UAV up to 1 kilometer away
Must be able to pass the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate examination and follow on examinations as required
Demonstrated intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency with office software, productivity tools and relevant flight software
Clean driving record required in order to drive company vehicles
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred or relevant experience in a similar job setting
Prior military experience highly desirable
Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Demonstrates communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others across disciplines
Demonstrates above average computer skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools
Focuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one’s own interests

The salary range for this role is:
$108,275 - $153,615AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
