Job Title: Flight Dynamics Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the orbit determination, maneuver planning, and trajectory analysis of spacecraft. You will also play a key role in enhancing our tools and software for advanced trajectory design and orbit determination. Responsibilities + Use ranging techniques to perform orbit determination of spacecraft, including Range and Range Rate Measurements, Doppler tracking, Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Optical Tracking, and Inertial Measurement Units. + Craft, evaluate, and implement orbital maneuvers for spacecraft. + Enhance tools and software for cutting-edge trajectory design, maneuver planning, and orbit determination. + Establish, develop, and maintain interfaces between flight dynamics systems and other ground-based operation components, along with external data providers. + Apply techniques for maneuver-planning and trajectory analysis. + Provide cross-training to team members on operational software and procedures. + Occasionally perform shift work and on-call support for launch and early orbit phase operations, as well as collision avoidance maneuver planning. + Build models from scratch. + Utilize third-party software such as GMAT and Copernicus. + Develop and perform analysis using Python scripts and other mentioned tools. + Split responsibilities 50/50 between the first mission set to fly later this year and building up range and Doppler tools for future missions beyond LEO where GPS cannot be used. Essential Skills + Experience in orbit determination and orbital mechanics. + Proficiency in Python for analysis and operations. + Skills in maneuver planning, trajectory design, and optimization. + Experience with spacecraft and aerospace dynamics. + Familiarity with GMAT, Copernicus, and general mission analysis tools. + Masters Degree in Engineering or Physics with 3+ years of experience, or Bachelors Degree with 4+ years of experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in a start-up environment. + Knowledge of defense customer requirements and small launch providers. + Experience with medium launch vehicles and coordination with aviation and software partners. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
