Flight School Operations Manager - 18893

Our client, a global leader in the aviation manufacturing industry is seeking a Manager of Operations for their Canadian Flight Center, based in London, Ontario. Reporting to the CEO, this role will leverage your superior operational, administrative and organizational skills to lead the operations of a highly respected and growing Flight Center. You will have management responsibility and P&L accountability for the entire operation. 

There is a planned succession and transition into the CEO position.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages day to day aviation training operations focused on operational safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and organizational operating policies, procedures, and standards.  Responsible for Transport Canada (TC), Ministry of Labor (MOL), environmental, and regulatory compliance. Supervises flight scheduling, aircraft maintenance scheduling, and other business operations. Be responsible for the maintenance control system in accordance with CAR 406.19 Coordinates plans and schedules skill development and training sessions for flight instructors. Implements programs to ensure attainment of business plans, growth, and profit. Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization. Company representative and liaison with the TC Southern Ontario division. Company representative and liaison to the Western University and Fanshawe educational staff. Develop and create strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals. Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates. Responsible for formulating and articulating new business opportunities. Promote the mission, vision, and values to maintain a strong relationship with students, flight instructors, and other flight schools in the region. Ensure that policies and procedures are developed, updated, implemented, and followed. Recruiting, selection, and training of workforce. Pilot scheduling and coordination of training requirements (ground school, simulator usage and flight training) Evaluate the leadership and technical performance of subordinates and recommend opportunities for improvement. Provide for employee incentives, recognition for awards and administer discipline or recommend termination based on conditions of employment or Company policy. Acquisition and maintenance of assets necessary to meet operational obligations. Maintaining a positive relationship with management and all team members. Travel as required. All other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Candidate Requirements:
5+ years of experience in operations management. Strong financial acumen with previous P&L experience. Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills. Proven background of engaging and motivating employees at all levels to maintain a cohesive team and high employee retention. Holding at least a private pilot license or AME license. Previous knowledge with Transport Canada Flight Training Units certificated under CAR 406. Experience with aircraft maintenance under CAR 571. Career ambition including future transition into CEO role Must be willing to relocate to London, Ontario or reliably commute.
