Job Description
This Flight Software Developer will support the development of the Orion Spacecraft. Orion is NASA's spacecraft that will take humans deep into space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communications, radiation shielding, and the world's largest heat shield that will protect astronauts and help return them safely home. We are in the production phase and have finalized a contract for six Orion spacecraft missions with the ability to order up to 12 in total. The first spacecraft delivered on this contract, Artemis III, will carry the first woman and the next man to the surface of the Moon. Orion is a critical part of the agency's Artemis program to build a sustainable presence on the lunar surface and to prepare us to move on to Mars.
Responsibilities
+ Develop software for the Orion Spacecraft using C++ and Python.
+ Support the core flight executive (CFE) and core flight system (CFS).
+ Engage in simulations development.
+ Handle rendezvous proximity operations and docking (RPOD).
+ Work with real-time executive for multiprocessor systems.
+ Support real-time operating systems (RTOS) and RTEMS.
Essential Skills
+ Software development experience with C++ and Python.
+ BS in computer science.
+ Experience with core flight executive (CFE) and/or core flight system (CFS).
+ Simulations development experience.
+ Knowledge of rendezvous proximity operations and docking (RPOD).
+ Experience with real-time executive for multiprocessor systems.
+ Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and RTEMS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in spacecraft software development.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
There is flexibility to work remote or on-site at the Houston or Denver facility. This is a unique opportunity to support history in the making by playing a key role in the development of the first deep space aircraft.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $90.00/hr.
